Astrata wins Singapore hazmat vehicle deal
SINGAPORE A tracking device smaller than a mobile phone will be fitted to an initial 500 vehicles and allow the Singapore Civil Defence Force to track and control the movement of vehicles carrying hazardous materials and prevent them being used as terror weapons. The device is being supplied by Astrata Group Inc. In mid-February the government introduced new regulations requiring more than 2,000 petro-chemical and pharmaceutical companies importing, transporting and storing large quantities of flammable materials to obtain SCDF licences. Vehicles must travel on approved routes.
